Birmingham, Oh., October, 2009 — New Airshirz® Magnum™ pneumatic scissors from Bettcher Industries increase worker productivity while reducing muscle fatigue in cutting operations involving heavy fowl. These new, more powerful air-powered scissors provide more than twice the cutting force of other pneumatic scissor models. They provide welcome relief for sore hands when working with spent hens, other birds in the #7 - #10 range, as well as turkeys.

Among the poultry processing operations for which Airshirz® Magnum™ scissors are ideally suited are neck-cutting for spent hens, paw removal, and hock cutting. Turkey applications include wing tip removal and feather removal.

Lightweight yet powerful, Airshirz® Magnum™ scissors provide clean, accurate cutting, snipping and trimming, resulting in less waste and a better-looking finished product. Yet Airshirz requires approximately 90% less muscle activity to operate when compared to manual scissors, while at the same time maximizing operator control over both the blade position and the cutting speed.

With Airshirz® Magnum™ scissors, blades open safely and automatically. The unique ergonomic design virtually eliminates the need to use the thumb in cutting operations. Muscle fatigue is dramatically reduced, as well as the exposure to risk factors associated with musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) of the hand and forearm.

In addition, Airshirz® Magnum™ scissors’ pneumatic design gives users complete control over the cutting action, thereby guarding against accidents or an inadvertent cut. A safety latch secures blades in a locked position to enhance safety and prevent damage when the scissors are not in use.

Airshirz® Magnum™ scissors utilize hardened stainless steel blades, with many blade choices available. Blades can be removed in seconds and sharpened using conventional sharpening equipment. All units use standard 80 to 120 psi plant air.
