Designates our company as one of the best places to work in Northeast Ohio

We're pleased to report that Bettcher Industries has been named a 2012 "Top Workplace" by the Cleveland Plain Dealer newspaper. The designation means that Bettcher Industries is one of the best places to be employed in Northeast Ohio.

What it means to be a "Top Workplace"

According to Workplace Dynamics, the consulting firm that conducted the surveys of Ohio businesses, being a "Top Workplace" means a variety of things, such as:

  • Employees believe they are well-compensated for their contributions to the company
  • Employees feel valued by their company
  • Employees feel their jobs are meaningful
  • Employees feel there are good communications channels in their company
  • Employees are confident about their future with the company

How the Evaluation was Conducted

The 2012 "Top Workplaces" evaluation was performed for the Plain Dealer by Workplace Dynamics, a leading human resources survey firm with offices in the United States and the United Kingdom.

Workplace Dynamics partners with the leading newspapers in 30 major cities like Boston, Detroit, Portland and Cleveland to establish annual "Top Workplace" rankings, which includes administering a 24-question online survey to company employees.

Employees are asked to rate, on a seven-point scale, how much they agree with statements such as:

  • "I believe this company is going in the right direction."
  • "I feel genuinely appreciated at this company."
  • "My job makes me feel like I am part of something meaningful."
  • "My pay is fair for the work I do."
  • "I have confidence in the leader of this company."

We had great participation at Bettcher Industries. In fact, nearly 60% of our employees in Northeast Ohio took part in the survey.

In Good Company

Overall, there were over 1,250 companies nominated for the Plain Dealer newspaper's 2012 "Top Workplace" program, with more than 500 of them agreeing to submit to the evaluation process.

Following collection of the survey data, Workplace Dynamics correlated and tested the results for accuracy. The company then established a threshold level of quality performance.

A total of 132 companies met the threshold performance criteria and were named the 2012 "Top Workplaces" in Northeast Ohio.

Mike Shover, Bettcher Industries' Director of Human Resources, welcomed the news. "We're honored to have been designated a 'Top Workplace' in Ohio – particularly as the judges were our own employees! It is gratifying to be rated highly by those who know you best," he said.
